But it's certainly aimed at the mass market. We're in the process of testing the Spark now but have some initial impressions.
The Spark is tiny. It measures 2.2 by 5.6 by 5.6 inches (HWD) and weighs 10.6 ounces—DJI points out it weighs less than a can of soda. It's not foldable, though the propellers do fold in for easy transport—you don't have to remove them for storage, so the Spark is always ready to fly. And there are colors. You can get it in Alpine White, Lava Red, Meadow Green, Sky Blue, and Sunrise Yellow.
It uses microSD memory to store images and video. A removable battery promises 16 minutes of flight time per charge—not what you get with DJI's bigger drones, but much better than the six minutes you get with tiny selfie drones like the Dobby. There's a micro USB port, so you can plug the Spark into a portable battery pack or your laptop to recharge its battery.
The camera sports a 1/2.3-inch CMOS image sensor, the same type you find in a typical pocket superzoom and slightly larger than the sensor in an iPhone. The lens is a fixed 25mm f/2.6 equivalent, capable of capturing 12MP still images and 1080p video. There's no support for Raw image capture or 4K video—look at the Mavic Pro instead if you want those features. A two-axis mechanical gimbal keeps footage stable during flight.
The normal array of safety features are baked into the design. You get GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning to keep it steady when flying outdoors and to bring it home automatically if communication is interrupted, or on demand. Forward-facing sensors detect obstacles at distances of up to 16 feet, and the Spark is smart enough to change its flight path and fly around them. And you've got the Vision Positioning System (VPS), a downward-facing sensor array that keeps the aircraft hovering in place when flying indoors without the aid of GPS.

General Motors Co was accused in a lawsuit on Thursday of rigging hundreds of thousands of diesel trucks with devices similar to those used by Volkswagen AG (VOWG_p.DE), to ensure they pass required emissions tests.
The proposed class-action lawsuit was filed in federal court in Detroit on behalf of people who own or lease more than 705,000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks fitted with "Duramax" engines from 2011 to 2016 model years.
It said GM used at least three "defeat devices" to ensure that the trucks would meet federal and state emission standards, even if they generated more pollution in real-world driving.
GM spokesman Dan Flores called the claims "baseless," and said the trucks comply with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency emissions standards and California's own tough standards.
The lawsuit seeks remedies including possible refunds or restitution for lost vehicle value, plus punitive damages.
It adds to legal problems for Detroit-based GM, which has already paid about $2.5 billion in penalties and settlements over faulty ignition switches linked to 124 deaths.
GM joins at least five automakers whose diesel emissions have been scrutinized by regulators or consumers.
They include VW, which has admitted to cheating; Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler AG; Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV, Peugeot SA and Renault SA

Welcome back to the Champions League – and straight into the group stages – for United. And welcome back for Mourinho who became the first manager to win the Champions League and the Europa League twice. He has won all four finals in European competition that he has contested. He raised four fingers in celebration.
And how he celebrated. How he likes to make his point. He appeared taut, insistent, as he raised his finger to the stands – still No 1 or making a point? – and then tumbled to the turf unbalanced as his son Jose Jnr jumped into his arms. He later stood on his own, arms outstretched, before the United fans and went up first to kiss the trophy.

Five icons selected for the 2018 NASCAR Hall of Fame Class
Legends Robert Yates, Red Byron, Ray Evernham, Ken Squier and Ron Hornaday will be enshrined in NASCAR's Hall of Fame.
A nearly 60-member voting panel, which includes members of the media, track operators, NASCAR executives and current Hall of Famers elected the five-member class. For the second time in voting history there was a tie for fifth place.
Hornaday owned the fifth and final spot in the 2018 class after a tiebreaking vote with the late Alan Kulwicki, who won the 1992 Cup Series championship.
The next top vote-getters for the 2018 NASCAR Hall of Fame Class were the late Buddy Baker and Davey Allison.
Yates (94 percent of vote) will lead the ninth group to be enshrined into the 2018 NASCAR Hall of Fame. The engine builder and longtime team owner, who is battling liver cancer, was credited with 57 career wins. His percentage is the highest since David Pearson was named on 94 percent of ballots in 2011.
Byron (74 percent) was NASCAR's first Cup Series champion in 1949 and was NASCAR's first Modified champion in 1948. The trailblazer was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers in 1998. Wounded in World War II, Byron drove with a special brace attached to the clutch pedal, to assist an injured leg – making his accomplishments even more impressive.
Evernham (52 percent) was a dominant crew chief in the 1990s, leading Jeff Gordon to capture three Cup Series championships. He later owned his own NASCAR team, Evernham Motorsports from 2001–2010. His drivers won 13 times, including NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott’s triumph in the 2002 Brickyard 400.
Ken Squier (40 percent) was instrumental as the lead broadcaster for multiple networks, most notably calling the 1979 Daytona 500, which launched NASCAR onto the national scene. Squier co-founded the Motor Racing Network (MRN) in 1970.

A 21-month jail term handed down last year to Barcelona and Argentina footballer Lionel Messi has been confirmed by Spain's Supreme Court, but he is unlikely to go to prison.
Messi and his father Jorge, who manages his finances, were both convicted in 2016 of defrauding Spain of €4.1m (£3.5m; $4.6m) in taxes.
Jorge Messi's jail term was reduced because he paid some of the taxes.
In Spain, prison terms of under two years can be served under probation.
The case will now return to the court in Barcelona that handed down the original judgement.

The defending NBA champions can wrap up their third straight conference title -- and a "three-match" against the Warriors -- with a win in Game 5 on Thursday night in Boston.
But if Games 3 and 4 are any indication, it won't be easy.
Fighting to keep their season alive, the Celtics aren't giving an inch despite playing without All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas, who may need surgery on a hip injury.
The Cavs, meanwhile, wouldn't be on the cusp of the Finals without Irving.
With Cleveland in jeopardy of dropping its second game in a row after James followed an 11-point Game 3 by picking up four first-half fouls, Irving put on a breathtaking one-man show in the third quarter.

The NHTSA says in the event of a crash, the child seat webbing may not adequately restrain the child.
The recall includes eight different models.
Models affected include 1871689, 1908152, 1813074, 1872691, 1853478, 1877535, 1813015, and 1794334 and they were produced between May 16, 2014 and August 1, 2014.

ATWATER -- Fire crews are investigating a Tanker explosion in Atwater near Highway 99 that killed one person.
Southbound Highway 99 is closed at Westside Boulevard due to the tanker fire at Applegate Road.
About 200 people in the area were evacuated. The tanker had just loaded up on fuel in Stockton and was making a delivery to an AM/PM in Atwater. It was hauling about 8,600 gallons of fuel and was just about a quarter mile from its destination.
Highway Patrol investigators believe the truck was going too fast while exiting Highway 99, and hit a concrete divider. The truck then tipped and its fuel started to spill and ignite
The driver of the truck was killed. No other injuries were reported.
Caltrans says to expect delays in the area. There is no estimated time for the roads to reopen.
Smoke could be seen by residents in North Merced about 5-8 miles away from the location.

Much like in life, “fair” and “deserve” only matter so much. Sports have a scoreboard to serve as the ultimate deciding factor.
The Pittsburgh Penguins have similar thoughts after falling 2-1 to the Ottawa Senators tonight, extending the Eastern Conference Final to a decisive Game 7. You can nitpick questionable penalties and missed chances, but really, how negative can you be after Craig Anderson puts forth a blazing 45-save performance (with no overtime)?
Mike Sullivan and others echoed such thoughts.
” … Obviously, we’re disappointed in the result, but I don’t think we can get discouraged by that,” Sullivan said. “I think we’ve got to take the positives from it, and we’ve got to build on it, and we’ve got to become a more determined team for Game 7.
That’s not the sort of take that’s going to make the Senators angry in Game 7. The tone of the Senators’ discussions was likely very different after they lost Game 5 by a 7-0 score, yet maybe there was similar self-belief.
